EXPRESSIONS were my early painting explorations of colour, light and shadow to capture what I would see during my many road trips to visit family and friends.  Old rural farms and other landmarks would often catch my attention. Working with the palette knife allowed me apply bold texture and pure colour to capture the energy I would see in the sky or amidst the dancing shadow on the ground.  Occasionally returning to this technique, I document the snapshots I take with my mind that I observe through the car window or from other vantage points during my travels.
