Material Impression: Shield is a conceptual drawing exploring the agency of materials.  Arising from research into fast fashion, this 13" x 13" artwork crafted with graphite on paper explores how different textiles leave different impressions on which they come into contact. Made in conjunction with a childhood t-shirt, the original impression is worked into with meditative approaches to mark-making to draw attention to the compelling dialogue between historical objects and contemporary expression.
