We Are Forest, 2023

Part of a larger exhibition of nine installations at No. 9 Gardens entitled With the Land, We Are Forest was in interdisciplinary and interactive temporary public art installation that invited visitors to take some quiet time to sit down and write a letter to or on behalf of trees on handmade seed-paper while sitting below a majestic Oak tree. Inscribed with a poem on the top, the wood installation worked to make material connections between human and more-than-human worlds.

This exhibition was co-presented by Agnes Etherington Art Centre and No.9 and curated by Sunny Kerr, Curator of Contemporary Art at Agnes.

Generously funded by the City of Barrie and project donors Sheila Delaney and Joan Lehman, the Becoming Rock one-minute sculpture project was an interactive waterfront installation inspired by the playful one-minute sculptures of Austrian artist Erwin Wurm and instructional art of the 1960s.

Created by the PRICE & THOMAS ART COLAB, bringing together the concepts of Frances Thomas and Jill Price, this entertaining field exercise for all ages encouraged both movement and stillness along the shores of Kempenfelt Bay.

“Initiated by the Town of Markham Public Realm Committee and the Varley Art Gallery, the Pomona Mural Project was a public art project that worked to employ and support emerging artists as they work to further their careers. Led by the Varley Art Gallery's Education Coordinator Brett Dunlop and Jill Price, a professional artist with public art mural experience, five artists from the York region worked together to create a visual installation on the outside walls of the Thornhill tennis court to celebrate the history of the area while exploring the theme of movement. Participating artists included Isabelle Tremblay, Sylvia Shade Chan, Barbara Wilson, Frankie Ip, and Lynda Warne.

Created in partnership with London's Downtown Business Association in 2005 as part of their Dundas rejuvenation project, Faces of London was a large-scale research-creation project that utilized digital collage in addition to other mixed-media approaches to celebrate individuals and architectural spaces that make London, Ontario, a unique place to live, work, and play.
